Based on an original recipe of brother Thomas, from Westmalle, the monks of ACHEL decided to start brewing their beers. Brother Antoine from Rochefort has also helped to elaborate the right recipe.

The Abbey of Orval is located near Florenville, Belgium in the provence of Luxembourg. The present brewery was completed in 1929, at which time the skittle, (pin) shaped bottle was introduced.The only beer brewed by the Trappist order at Orval, but a classic.
